WHO WE ARE
Founded in 2012, Bardi Co. restores the European banking tradition inherited from La Compagnia dei Bardi, one of the first and most renowned merchant banks of the Renaissance. During the 15th century, the Bardi family also played an important role in financing some of the early voyages of discovery to America including those by Christopher Columbus.
Today, Bardi Co. pays homage to its heritage by striving to offer best in class corporate financial advisory services to its global client base. While maintaining the firm's hallmarks of intellectual capital, innovation, and good judgment, Bardi Co. continuously adapts to the challenges of the 21st century.
LA COMPAGNIA DEI BARDI
The Bardi family establishes branches in England and across Europe. The family has 13 different branches located in Barcelona, Seville and Majorca, in Paris, Avignon, Nice and Marseilles, in London, Bruges, Constantinople, Rhodes, Cyprus and Jerusalem.
La Compagnia dei Bardi facilitates trade by providing merchants with bills of exchange, known today as checks.
By the 1320s, La Compagnia dei Bardi becomes the main European banking firm. Some of Europe's most powerful rulers are indebted to the Bardi family.
MEDICI & BARDI
The marriage of Contessina de' Bardi to Cosimo de' Medici around 1415 is a key factor in establishing the House of Medici in power in Florence. Cosimo rewards the Bardi family for their support, restoring their political rights upon his ascent in 1434.
